Javascript and variable back into peoplesoft

I created a dialog box using javascript.  I have attached the peoplecode to fire off the dialog javascript on HTML PT_PAGESCRIPT.  I'm wondering how to get a variable back into Peoplesoft when a user clicks the 'OK' button on the javascript dialog box.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
