PT 8.53 External Portal iframe Issue

We are currently in the process of upgrading our CS9.0 PeopleTools from PT 8.51 to  PT 8.53.  We are currently experiencing issues with loading our Pages into an external Portal.  On several requests we get a spinning wheel that will does not apear to go away or complete the request. 
I've tried setting the pages up following the examples in these KB Articles, however we still experience issues.
