Support for AD2012

I understand OID does not support 2012 as of yet, or at all.  We have a serious requirement to bring up a 2012 domain.  Can I bring up this 2012 doamin in the same forest as my 2008 domain?  This is more of a compatibility question with OID.  Will OID care that the forest level has been raised to 2012 mixed mode as long as the domain its syncing against is still 2008 native mode?
