Help - RMAN Archivelogs Never Become Obsolete

edited Sep 24, 2013 10:51AM in Database Backup and Recovery (MOSC) 12 commentsAnswered ✓

Hello,

The archivelogs and their backups on one of my servers never become obsolete.  While I’m fully aware it is possible to issue commands to specifically delete them, I prefer to allow RMAN to delete backups and archivelogs once it determines they are obsolete (using delete noprompt obsolete).  I have two servers running the same RMAN commands and have the same persistent configuration settings.  For the most part the first server deletes all of the backups and archivelogs when I think it should.  But for some reason the second server never considers the archivelogs or their backups obsolete.

Server 1:  Red Hat 4.1.2-46, Oracle 10.2.0.5, standalone with ASM
