Why are nVision drills (2-tier) created as MS Office Excel 97-2003 Worksheets?

We are running PT 8.52 on Windows Server 2008 with MS Excel 2007. Nvision is launched using Nvsuser.xls. All drills are created as
MS Office Excel 97-2003 Worksheets. Launching nVision from Nvsuser.xlsm has the same result.  Is it possible to force nVision to use MS Excel 2007 worksheets? Does this impact performance?
