replication from ds6 to ds7

We are working with a customer upgrading their Identity Management infrastructure from ds6.x to ds7.x on Solaris SPARC.
We have parallel environments in place, the legacy ds6 and the new ds7, with their respective replication agreements working.
We wanted to "swing the main data feed" and bring the ds7 MMR and consumers online and start retiring the ds6 machines.
However some clients are still needing to connect to a particular hostname that still runs as a ds6 consumer.
We attempted to "add" a ds7 to ds6 replication agreement, which fails from the command line.
dsconf creates the agreement, even the "accord" seems to return with no errors, but when we list-repl-agmts on the ds7 master we have errors sending updates.

Howdy, Stranger!
