Oracle Internet directory Platform Migration

 Hi ,
My project has a requirement of migrating and upgrading oracle internet directory from AIX to Linux and version 10g to release  11g Patch Set 6 (11.1.1.7.0) (I believe this is the latest version). Iv'e gone through several documents describing the upgrade strategy , but still haven't decided whether to upgrade the existing infrastructure or install Fusion middleware stack and then migrate the data using the bulk load. It appears to me that the installation option would be easier as there are a lot of changes in the new FMW stack.

Can you gurus help me out with your expert comments.
