Oracle SES 11.2.2.2

We are in the process of installing PT8.53/9.2 demo environment however we are unable to set up the SES version 11.2.2.2. until oracle gets it certified with Windows 2008 R2.   Will demo still function without having the SES installed/configured?   I believe that we will just not be able to search without having SES installed but we should still be able to navigate and test out some of the new 9.2 features without it?
