Single Sign On w/o Portal???

We have a fairly simple application/website and, while it is a great product,  do not wish to invest in Oracle WebCenter.  We are licensed for OAM (using embedded LDAP) and Forms&Reports.  11.1.2.1

Is it possible, using some free open source product or perhaps Forms itself, to create a front page (portal) that will integrate with OAM and provide single signon capability? 

To illustrate what I have in mind, the user should log in once and be able to select from a group of options, each connecting to a different Oracle database.  The user should only enter credentials once.
