PUM: Can the PUM Image be used as the SOURCE database during upgrade?

The PeopleSoft Image or PUM Image cannot be used as the Source database (New Release Demo) for an upgrade simply because it is not meant for this purpose. The PUM Images are used by PeopleSoft to deliver maintenance which includes new fixes, updated object definitions and latest features and functionality. Note that beginning Applications 9.2 and PT 8.53, the maintenance process has changed and PUM is the only supported process.
However, another set of images can be used using the same Oracle Virtualization technology (Oracle VM/ VirtualBox) utilized by PUM. For an upgrade, you can use the PeopleSoft Upgrade Source Image. Please see PeopleSoft Upgrade Source Images Home Page (
