Bank Id Qualifier

Based on PeopleBooks, it suggests not to add a bank id qualifier to the page without PeopleCode being developed behind the scenes.  We have a scnario where we are to be making payments to a vendor with banking information in a country that is not established in the Bank Id Qualifier page/table.  Will it cause issue when making payments if we are using custom payment file formats?
