What is the impact if I uncheck copy of current demo while doing Upgrade

Recently, I was looking at one of the Change Assitant job(Upgrade from 9.0 to 9.2) which was created by unchecking 'Copy of current demo'. It's obvious that steps that included running comparison of UPGCUST between Copy of Production and Copy of Current demo were not part of the upgrade job. But later the steps were included to copy UPGCUST from Copy of production to new release demo. Since the UPGCUST was not created in earlier steps, so it wasn't available for migration to new release demo. Those steps had to marked complete.

1. Shouldn't Copy of current demo be checked by default before creation CA job?
