First Time Doing Application Upgrade - Question on Migrating Customized Objects

This is my first time doing an application upgrade of HCM / FMS / ELM 9.0 > 9.2.    I was wondering what the thoughts were about customized objects.   

I've been practicing the HCM 9.0>9.2 upgrade and when the UPGCUST project compare of the new tools release is complete, I did an analysis of the customized objects like records, fields, etc.    We decided to not take any of our customizations and hold off until the conversion is complete.    There were a few errors, but such as customized records not accepting nulls and such, but all in all this seems to work.

The next step we had in mind was to determine which of our customized projects we wanted to bring back to the 9.2 enviornment.   WE thought about doing a compare / copy to bring those objects back.
