True External Testing

in PeopleTools and Lifecycle Management - PSFT (MOSC)

How many organizations test UAT for employee self-service with a true external facing PIA (outside your firewall)?  We have a self-service portal setup that is internal facing, the access is 100% identical to what users would see if they logged in externally in our production environment.  We have a new user that is pushing back and indicating that the internal facing portal self-service portal is insufficient for testing.

We have been live on self-service for six years, they want to test adding new content references, and a new portal home page. 

 What does your organization do? Please advise.
