How To Prevent User From Receiving Email From A Specific Workflow While Continue To Receive Them Fro

Hi I've tracked down this article to do exactly what I want to do, but as a newbie I don't know how to actually create and Adhoc role and complete the steps in solution A desciribed in document:

How To Prevent User From Receiving Email From A Specific Workflow While Continue To Receive Them From Other Workflows? (Doc ID 1478991.1)

Can anyone provide me with instructions to actually complete these steps or point me the direction of other doucments that will?
