How to enable the hyper link and a custom button in a page based on a particular Role?

Hi ,

I have a requirement ,that is based on a particular User Role i have to make a hyperlink and a custom button to enable on a page ,except these fields all the other fileds in the page like Group box,scroll etc has to be view only.

I have created the a new role and permission list  and gave the read only acess to that role for that particulare page. After that i made the hyperlink and button to enable in the page activate Peoplcode,but it doesn't work.
