VAT - Items Classification

 Hi all,
In India is needed to setup the item classification for VAT reporting right? My question is, we are working in PO with Categories non with inventory items, so in a PO we select categories how this impact in India localizations? I mean is there any link between the PO Categories and the requirement to setup Inventory Item Classifications.
