Horizontal menu with vertical drop downs no longer display description when mouse hovers over item

We are on FSCM 9.0 MP#13, Oracle 11.1.0.7 PT 8.49 migrating to PT8.53.

We've noticed after we turn on the horizontal menus with vertical dropdowns, the item/folder entry long description fails to display any more.  This was available with the old left side vertical menu, but we can't find where to turn it on for the new horizontal menu.
