PSFT Security Copy Options in PS 9.2 Upgrade / PT 8.53 Upgrade

I've reviewed documents 642944.1 and 610138.1 and it appears to be quite a daunting task.

Since you can't really stop production while you are testing your upgrade process, security that is implemented in the current environment is a concern for the new environment.

Are there any customers that have successfully copied security from their existing systems into the APP 9.2 / PT 8.53 environments using these or other documents?

My understanding is that anything that is in the UPGRADE database (the one upgraded to 9.2/8.53) which is the SOURCE, i.e. Permission Lists, Roles, etc, will be overlayed in the TARGET Copy of Prod database during the MTP steps.
