PT 8.53 Upgrade and impact of WebLogic upgrade

We are currently on PeopleTools 8.50.09 and are planning an upgrade to 8.53.  Upgrade documentation indicates that PT 8.53 requires 64-bit WebLogic 10.3.6 and 64-bit JDK 7.  With PT 8.50, we have 32-bit WebLogic 10.3.1.  The upgrade instructions recommend upgrading all environment software to the versions supported by PT 8.53 before starting the Tools upgrade.  Since PT 8.50 does not support 64-bit WebLogic, will this cause us any issues during the Tools upgrade?  Should I hold off on the environment software upgrades/updates until after the Tools upgrade is complete?
