Standing up a reverse proxy post OSSO.conf configuration

We've recently installed Forms/Reports/Discoverer 11g utilizing OID and spread across two servers.  Both server, one containing the middleware database, a weblogic install, and OID, and the other containing the forms/reports/discover install, and a weblogic install.  As a member of the development group, I've got a VPN set up to allow me to "see" and connect directly to the two servers.  When I call forms, a 302 redirect occurs redirecting me to the OID server using its internal name, com-formsdb.comdata... This name is not known to DNS my infrastructure group tells me, so they want me to change the configuration so
