OUD Proxy Configuration to AD

If I try to point OAM to the OUD that I have set as a proxy, using the same info that works in weblogic, it tells me that it is an invalid user store. OU=Users, OU=Lab-Accounts,DC=xxx,dc=yy,dc=zzz 

If I take off the OU=Users, that it lets me save it as valid,  but I can never authenticate.

Everything Works fine on the local OUD, but I map the local oud  users as ou=people, DC=xxx,dc=yy,dc=zzz   

Any idea what I did wrong or where to look?

Is OAM supported against a OUD set up in proxy mode?
