WF_NOTIFICATION TABLE STATUS

Workflow Notification table has Status "CANCELLED" and MAIL_STATUS =NULL for a user regarding few notifications.We have verified the user profile preference and they are active .

Is it possible to confirm in any way that the notifications have been sent to user but the user did not take response due to which the notifications have been cancelled???
