URGENT please Supplier Parent Child

Please some one help me to understand the Supplier Parent Child functionality. If there is a document that business can easily understand, that will be greatly appreciated. We are trying to understand how parent child relationship for supplier works in RMS. We have RMS 10. I know its old but the functionality per se has changed in future releases per se.

We want to know

how a parent child suppliers are set up in RMS

why is it required to have parent child?

what areas in RMS can this relationship be used?

etc
