Cannot get 10gb PCIe NIC to connect to network even though lights show green

We have a new T4-1 server with a SunDual 10GbE SFP+ PCIe adapter card that we want to aggregate at the faster speeds.  The device shows connected from within the dladm command but when we switch over connections from the functioning igb0 card to the ixgbe0/1 card...it cannot even connect to its gateway.   Have tried it single port, link aggregation, and port aggregation and nothing seems to work.  What is the mojo that I am missing to get this card working properly?  No issues whatsoever with the igb cards, but the 10gbE card refuses to connect.  Any suggestions?
