Question regarding R12.1.3 mailer SMTP

Hi,

I have few questions about R12.1.3 workflow mailer:

1. Note 564361.1 "Can Workflow Mailer Use SMTP With Authentication? " says that functionality Authentication is available in R12.1.3. Does this mean that explicit mail relay access (of EBS Servers) can be revoked at Mail Server level?

2. Does WF Notification mailer require explicit SMTP relay access to be enabled at Mail Server level for EBS AppsTier Servers? If we revoke the mail relay access then will WF Notification Mailer work as expected?

3. Is it mandatory to white-list the Oracle EBS servers' IP addresses with SMTP Mail Server for Workflow Notification Mailer functioning?

4. How do we achieve this if our mail servers are hosted externally on cloud like Google mail etc
