Can a user's default portal homepage by changed from the delivered DEFAULT?

We are in the process of rolling out some additional pagelets and navigation collections.  However, we want to roll out homepages (like My Information, My Payroll, My Benefits) with preset pagelets for those areas.  In doing so, we would like to remove the 'default' homepage presented for a class of users (self-service users precisely). Thanks
