PTUPGCONVERT during testmoves

Hello experts,

As most of you know we have to run the PeopleTools upgrade conversion AE PTUPGCONVERT during the iterative Move to Productions (test moves). Again, we are importing the tools metadata using mvprd dms scripts. Does this mean that we are running the tools conversion on tools metadata that was already converted during Initial move/previous test moves ?

For eg. UPGPTHASH internally invokes two peoplecode functions

&return1 = HashSQL();

&return2 = HashPeopleCode();

I am wondering is there is any documentation available on what these functions do and why this conversion needs to be run every time
