Active Directory certification for OAM 11gR2 using OVD

I am aware that OAM 11gR2 doesnot support Active Directory(AD) 2003.

We had a use case to support federation using OAM 11gR2 somehow. I noticed that the latest version of OVD was 11.1.1.7 which happens to support AD 2003.

So can we safely assume that we can use AD 2003 with OAM 11gR2 for enabling federation services if we were to use OVD as an Identity Store ?
