use DB link for application engine

We have EPM and FSCM application with Oracle DB. We want to run few application engines and create some online pages which will run in FSCM, but on data of EPM. Has anyone have any experience with such setup? These pages will be simple pages but the application engine will be large application engine with lot of temp tables. I am worried if there will be performance issues in this architecture or if the this concept itself is not good. Please share your thoughts.
