BI Publisher output to excel taking 5 hours to generate

Hello,

I am dealing with a report performance issue. I have developed a report in which the requirements are:

1) The output to be in excel

2) Data is grouped by levels, depending on the run control parameter.

In the run control page, the user can pick up a node in a department tree to which they want the report to run for. The report must show all nodes bellow the one selected, and the detailed departments need to be grouped in a " tree-like " style in a table. Please see attached file for screenshots of the RTF template and result that is generated.
