Why is the CHARTFIELD1 field in CHARTFIELD1_TBL tagged as Not Used key?

Why is the CHARTFIELD1 field in CHARTFIELD1_TBL tagged as Not Used key? But when checked for Record field Properties, the Key checkbox is checked. What is its impact online and back-end?

Also, when trying to insert rows, I encounter unique constraint because no index was on the CHARTFIELD1 field. Is this a known and acceptable behavior? Or does this have a fix?
