Trying to understand dataguard for RAC (for rookie)

Hi,

Happy new year DBA.

I have 2 nodes RAC Primary and 2 nodes RAC Physical Standby with broker.

I am trying to understand the RFS processes.

Question:

1. My test result show RFS still having activity and receiving archive redolog from primary even though I shutdown the listener. Is the Listener is required for the standby to create the RFS only and not required anymore during the log shipping activity?

2. My standby alert having following information

WARNING: A file of type ARCHIVED LOG may exist in

db_recovery_file_dest that is not known to the database.

Use the RMAN command CATALOG RECOVERY AREA to re-catalog
