OIM federation

Hello,

I'm wondering if there's anyone out there using what I would call a Federated OIM architecture.  We are looking to build an environment using OUD and OAM/OIF as the source of truth for authentication services, but would like to run seperate, and uniquely configured OIM instances for user management and proviisoning.  Has this been done, or is it possible?  I can currently make this happen using Oracle Access 10g components, and am wondering if the same can be done in the 11g environment.
