Using Incentive Compensation module for subset of total sales

My company currently calculates commissions offline from EBS.  We are looking to start selling our products through independent sales reps and are wondering if we could start using the Incentive Compensation module specifically for these sales.  The commission schedule is based on the discount to list price - which we will have but only in flexfields.  Basically looking to determine whether OIC module could be a good fit for a small subset of sales in an existing operating unit.  Additionally need to understand whether it is flexible enough to calculate commissions based on values that will likely only be stored
