CRM 9.1 to 9.2 upgrade question.

I'm upgrading CRM from version 9.1 on PeopleTools 8.53.10 to version 9.2.

The upgrade source image for CRM 9.2 is running a lower patch level of PeopleTools (8.53.06) than my current environment. 

The getting started guide indicates that if you are using the application-only upgrade template, the PeopleTools versions must match.  The CRM 9.2 upgrade documentation says that if you are just starting your upgrade, you should use the 8.54 upgrade templates.

Prior to starting the initial pass, should I upgrade PeopleTools on the upgrade source image to 8.53.10 and use the 8.53 upgrade templates or should I upgrade the PeopleTools on the upgrade source image to 8.54.04 and then use the 8.54 upgrade templates to upgrade my application and tools?
