FUNDAMENTALS OF SFP+

Hello

 

Please can someone GROUND me with SFP+ basics... What do I need to know for effective field support.

 

We have two 6300. Version SCZ7.1.2 MR-2 GA (Build 264). I'll be installing two more in a short while.

 

6300 have two 10 GigE optical NIUs. SFP+ is what is used.

A look at the Troubleshooting history of the person who installed the 6300 showed that when SINGLEMODE FIBER (SM) was used, the Link was not Operational. MULTIMODE FIBER (MM) was what made it operational. The 6300 Documentation states that both SM or MM with duplex LC connectors can be used for connection.

 

So why did SM not work?
