upgrading bootloader

Hi guys 

 

I'm upgrading bootloader on 3820 for the ECX 6.4 firmware. bootloader upgrade document says i have to login to the console to access vxworks for running the upgrade commands. Can this not be done via telnet on mgmnt interface? 

Anything else i need to be careful about when upgrading boot loader?
