Sip port mapping in TCP

Hi guys,
please do you know in which way it can be usefull enabling it on sip interfaces ? especially in tcp ?
I think to have understood that endpoints that resides in a realm where "registration-cache" is enabled should have the port-mapping enabled while port-range map configuration should be done in the realm where registrar/softswitch resides...in this when an UA send a register request to the SD then the SD forwarding to the next-hope will change in it's contact field the original port(for example 5060) with a one allocated from the port-range in the sip-interface.
In this way SD will send each registration request with a different port mapping in the contact uri field...my question is..what is the benefit of this behavior ?
