Firmware Upgrade Testing

What testing should one do when upgrading from one firmware to another? 

 

We currently have SCX620P3 in our LAB and it has been in the LAB for almost one year and we don't have any issues, and we need to upgrade to SCX620M3.  

 

Should we spend weeks of cycle to upgrade and test the system or just test basic calling and features and then upgrade?
