ppp & cx700

Has anyone created a ppp connection to communicate with an EMC Cx700?

I am having difficulties setting up the connection. I think I'm missing something.  All the EMC documentation reference a windows laptop and pp via a serial connection.  I have a single serial port on my Solaris 10 machine with a NULL modem cable. Do I need to set up as a client or server?

pppd /dev/cua/a 115200 returns a "no idle ports" error.

can anyone help?
