Performance issue with large number of paths in GL Approval setup

Hi PS Gurus,

We are working on a requirement to have the GL Approval setup to include 200+ paths as it is a Business requirement. Each path will have a single step with "Always True" criteria, and user list for each path/step will be different.

Has anybody worked on similar cases and do you suspect "major" performance hit due to the design? With such large number of paths some performance hit is expected.

Any inputs appreciated.
