What are the steps that need to be done when compiling Cobol?

I looked in MOS for information about compiling Cobol in conjunction with applying a Maintenance Pack to PeopleSoft Financials 9.1 (Tools 8.50), and can't seem to find a good resource for the information.  The PeopleTools 8.50 Installation Guide just includes steps for compiling the files, but there are references in MOS to the actual compile process, manually copying *.cbl, *.gnt and *.int files around on the app server, running datamover scripts, relinking Cobol programs, etc.  Can someone recommend a definitive resource for exactly what needs to be done when Change Assistant says "Compile Cobol Step Manually"?
