Performance issue on page with many pagelets

Our instance is having some intermittent performance issue on certain pages which have alot of pagelets such as Manager Dashboard & Talent Summary page.

Users also mention that when checking for Job Data it is slow too. Anyway we can improve it? We've schedule update statistics to be run twice a week, however we only able to see minimal improvement. Can we recreate all of the index?
