What is the purpose of JRNL_LN_REF field in PeopleSoft GL 9.1?

Hi All, What is the purpose of JRNL_LN_REF field in both JRNL_LN AND JGEN_ACCT_ENTRY tables in PeopleSoft GL 9.1? Is there any documentation available on this?
