BI Publisher Direct Printing PT 8.53.11 not working

Trying to develop AP checks and have them direct print.   Also testing other BI Publisher delivered reports for direct printing on two different printers.    The printers look like they are setup correctly, yet the reports will not even spool.    The process show executed to the success status.    The process scheduler recognizes both printers.   Can print to the printers from any other application type other than BI Publisher.   What could be the issue?     I am hoping to not have to develop a custom solutions since Oracle stated that direct printing works in 8.53.11.
