DEMO app server logon denied, but can connect with data mover and app designer

Am trying to start up a PT 8.54 DEMO app server in a linux environment.  Can successfully log in with data mover and app designer using the PS ID.  Am able to connect via SQLplus with SYSADM and people.  But when I try starting up the app server get the error:

PSAPPSRV.7903 (0) [2015-07-09T10:04:54.032](1) GenMessageBox(200, 0, M): SQL Access Manager: File: SQL Access ManagerSQL error. Stmt #: 2  Error Position: 0  Return: 404 - ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

PSAPPSRV.7903 (0) [2015-07-09T10:04:54.035](1) GenMessageBox(0, 0, M): Database Signon: Could not sign on to database CSZBL with user PS.

Was thinking if I could connect with app designer and data mover with the PS account, then app server should be able to as well.  Am I missing something obvious?
