Application Engine that calls a CI

I have an app engine program that calls a CI.  That all works fine, and the data for that CI is saved.  But the Component has a record in it that has som e SavePostChange peoplecode that works from the page, but does not fire with the CI is called from the app engine.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look or how to troubleshoot.  I have a trace file and I've displayed out some message boxes, but it's not enough to find the problem.
