Send email notification to multiple users in a responsibility

I am using a notification to a responsibility in an EBS approval workflow. It works like a treat as long as the recipients/approvers are using the web notification.
The wf mailer flatly refuse to send email to this kind of recipients. Is there any way to have an email notification using a responsibility as a performer?
