OID Connector vs LDAP sync for simple install

Gurus,

I have a new 11.1.2.3 OIM install that I want to use to maintain user and groups in OID 11.1.1.7. 

The help desk that will use this to do the administration will also be users that reside in the same OID.

As an aside, I'm also using OAM to authenticate EBS and OBI access for the same OID users.

I have the following questions:

1) There are two options for allowing OIM to maintain the OID accounts, LDAP sync or the OID connector.   I'm at the point where this is my next task.   Does anyone have any recommendations on which way to go here?
